Ok let’s start at the very beginning:

Typeface: Univers.

Please insure you have the Univers Font suite installed on your computer. If you do not as yet have it, it’s available in the BJ building either on course material via the computer labs and / or through one of the Technical Officers upstairs. Please insure you get either the Mac or PC version according to your operating system.

In Design Article Master Page File:

You have been emailed the In Design Master Page for your article layout, please follow the accompanying instructions within the email carefully. Those of us using In Design CS, please remember to re-save the Adobe Interchange document (.inx) as a indesign file (.indd) before proceeding with your layout.

If you have not received / lost / temporally misplaced / split coffee on your copy of the In Design master page file, email me and I’ll send you a brand new one – For free!

Article Formatting:

Within your In Design master document paragraph styles have been pre-formatted, these are pre-formatted for the Body Copy, Sub-Heading, Intro Text and Captions and are labelled accordingly. Apply these Paragraph Styles by selecting a text box and selecting the appropriate Paragraph Style from the Paragraph Styles palette.

Pretty please do not change these settings or makeup your own, they are all pre-formatted to keep the type consistent throughout the magazine. If you change these settings we will be very angry, and write you very nasty letter telling you just how angry we are.

Slug Section: (Area outside of the document area)

The Slug section contains extra information relating to the document formatting along with some extra fields along the bottom for Author and page information – Please fill out the lower fields as necessary and keep them up to date.

In Design Grid Presets:

The Body Copy and Sub Heading automatically align to In Design’s base page grid, the grid line increments are preset in the In Design Master page, please do not change the pre-set grid line increments.

Cheers,

Serryn.
